It really all started in elementary school when I decided to become a door-to-door, painted-rock sales woman.
At the age of 22, I took a leap of faith and moved to a city and state where where I didn’t know a soul and opened my first business with my best friend. With a library card in hand, we paged through all the business books the Charleston, SC public library could hold. Life was fast and furious as we faced every decision, change and launch the only way our gut (& the books from the local library) told us to. My first business was a design studio where Catherine and I worked with brands and individuals on logos, ad design, marketing plans & websites. This was before blogging was huge and Instagram wasn’t even a thing. We did great work for some amazing clients, and through the process I gained a ton of knowledge.
Fast forward 11 years and I’m now running my second and third business (yes, at the same time!). I started Thimblepress® out of my dusty, uneven-foundation garage in 2012. It never started as a business. It started as a hobby and a passion to get my hands dirty, move outside the realm of branding/marketing, and create products that truly are an expression of my personality. As Thimblepress® grew, I began receiving calls and emails about speaking at events, podcasts, and often just chatting on the phone for advice. Each time I spoke on the phone with someone about what they did, my heart leapt for joy.
With each conversation I grew more and more invested in what I knew was to be true… I am not only meant to create encouraging and uplifting products; I’m supposed to encourage and uplift, educate and advise.
It was so clear. For a year I began to plan what this website would look like. The perfectionist in me wanted to it be something grand. I realized if I didn’t go ahead and launch it, my dream of mentoring & encouraging others would never come true.
I’m not here to tell you how much money I make, how I left a corporate job that was killing me to find Thimblepress®, or to tell you everything I can do for you and change your life. I’m here to tell you that this website is different. My consulting, mentoring, calls and workshops are very personal. They are limited in quantity and that is something I am striving to keep.
Over the next 12 months, I will be unrolling more of this website. There will be tools, courses and templates launching in the shop I wish would have existed when I was starting. Free forms, resources and blog posts will be added to the blog. Free digital wallpapers will soon be available to decorate the places you spend the most time as an entrepreneur: your computer, phone and tablet…DUH!
At the end of the day, I want this to be a space where you can go to feel less crazy and alone as an entrepreneur. I want you to know you have a friend and cheerleader in me. It’s hard to go on this adventure alone, so let me be the first to tell you YOU DON’T HAVE TO! :)
